What We're Google Readering: The Return Of Back-Scratching

It's been a while since we had a linkstravaganza here on The Blogulator, but since we kinda have a newfound readership and DoktorPeace is still in Luxembourg (sorry, Friday video game posts will likely be taking a backseat until he returns), I thought I'd point you to some of the post and sites/blogs/tumblrs/blitherers (one of those is fake) that we've been digging recently. If you want to find more linkageness, check out my Google Reader widget on the sidebar - that green thing toward the bottom. But now, the highlights. Here ye be, intern00bs!

Songs From Treme: Qualler turned me on to this one. The title explains it all (well I guess that one above did too) and that's all it is. Just every number of hours or so dude posts a song-player widget so you can listen to a song that was used in the new HBO/David Simon show Treme. He also conveniently tells you exactly where in the latest episode you can catch that song. Every jazzy/cajuny/bluesy track has been great so far and I can't wait to catch up on the latest episodes via Qualler's DVR.

Fuck Yeah Num-Nums: Just a simple little tumblr that posts whenever they find a picture of delicious food, usually something not good for you (i.e. candy or cake), but also not disgusting like some of the more shock value-ridden food blogs out there. Here's my mostest favorite recent one - a watermelon that looks like a shark! Hey that's delicious AND good for you! Double-score!

Expectation-Free Zone: Sometimes I don't know whether to credit a tumblr that re-blogged something awesome from another tumblr because that's where I found it, or to give the acclaim to the original tumblr responsible for the awesomeness. It's an enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in tin foil. Anyway, do you like NBC's Community? Me too. A lot. Do you like The Breakfast Club? Me too. A lot. It's not overrated. No, you're the idiot. Rosa DeLauro is a Fucking Hipster: I only knew the house of representatives member from Connecticut via the CNN/MPR periphery, but I feel since I started reading this tumblr, I have gotten to know her so much better. Turns out she's a hipster, or so this site contends. Whether it's the truth matters not, because cliches about my people combined with old political figures will most likely always be funny. Is this four out of four tumblrs now? Man, that's rough, Blogger/rest of the internet.

2day Blog: Ah, that's better. Props to Blogulator friend and reader P. Arty for pointing this out to me. I'm a big fan of these kinds of photography projects that seem to be getting a lot of internet love, where the artist combines live photography with drawing or painting for an illusory effect. I'm more partial to this one than the more hyped Alexa Meade one where painted people and took pictures of them on the subway, but both are cool and I hope spur more pleasant ideas like them. This one's also cool. P. Arty, where do you find these?

What We're Google Readering: Chaos Reigns!

The Film Experience: I'm not a big fan of a lot of the Best of the 00s lists floating around so haphazardly and without much reflection (it's not even January!) but this one is an exception. Robert from TFE takes a very comprehensive look at the most important directors of the decade, and this entry on Antichrist (they're already makin' t-shirts that I'm sure are selling like gangbusters; see above!) and Dancer in the Dark's Lars Von Trier is particularly thorough and objective, in my opinion. Margene's Blog: Big Love returns in just under a month! So of course the cute/obnoxious marketing tactic of having youngest wife Margene blog about what she's been up to between seasons is back in action. When the show's actually on this annoys me to no end, but having been without the Hendricksons for far too long, I'm glad Qualler shared it, as I can just imagine the adorable looks Margene is giving all the characters! Damn you clever HBO promotions departemnt! [Qualler]

Sparks Fly Up: I absolutely adore the book Looking for Alaska, so I'm glad OHD has pointed out this, John Green's blog, and specifically this, his latest videocast making fun of Twilight and New Moon while simultaneously professing his love for the "beautiful lie" they perpetrate. I think we linked Sparks Fly Up back before I read LFA so I'm glad to be pointed there again. You should be too - the man is a genius. [OHD]

It's Always Sunny... Blog: And in speaking of all things Edward Cullen, I present you with quite possibly the year's best tie in between two timely released but couldn't be more dissimilar items of pop culture, New Moon and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. If you haven't seen the brilliant episode titled "The D.E.N.N.I.S. System" of the otherwise off-and-on latest season of Sunny, do yourself a favor and watch it on Hulu by clicking here. As series co-creater/co-star Glenn Howerton points on the Sunny blog, Mr. Cullen is indeed not all that much different from Dennis Reynolds. [Chris]

Boing Boing: Not a lot of suggestions came my way for WWGR this time around, so I bring you two of my favorite shared items as of late, once again from former Raido K DJ Oren. The first of which is such mandatory viewing that the local news team from KARE 11 featured it as their "Before We Go" fluff feature earlier this week. It was quite something to watch Mike Pomeranz giggle almost uncontrollably at an adorable kitten YouTube video, but the man should not be blamed. This is the best YouTube sensation since that other cat did something cute and hilarious. [Shared Item]

Black Eiffel: Blogulator reader and friend Lane always shares very sleek and cool design-related blog posts, but they usually fly under my radar because I'm not, well, stylish. However, when she shared this new Lego set featuring Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, I seriously squeed. Very cool! Is this something kids could get into though? Or is it another Where the Wild Things Are fiasco? Ah who cares, if I can get pleasure out of doing a cat puzzle when I'm 25, I can definitely get behind building the Guggenheim out of Legos at 26. What We're Google Readering: Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiit

Pajiba: It was my birthday Thursday and Pajiba apparently gave me a present. Not literally, but what better thing to find on the only site I make sure to check everyday besides The Blogulator than a video compiling the 100 Greatest Quotes from The Wire? Bubbles made me cry with only a 2-second clip! [Chris]

Magnificent Bastard: I know making fun of Jon and Kate is so five minutes ago, but this is one of the more comprehensive looks at the more despicable half of the infamous pair. Ah I am so behind on the making-fun-of-people-who-wear-Ed-Hardy bandwagon, but Qualler has surely found a gem here. [Qualler]

People of Walmart: I feel a teensy bit bad scrolling through the magnetic pages of this site, documenting the various customers of everyone's favorite low-priced megastore, but ultimately, OHD is right. It's impossible to look away. [OHD]

YouTube: The king of YouTubing brings us another gem, just in time for the release of Roland Emmerich's disaster movie to end all disaster movies, 2012. This clip re-edits the admittedly-mesmerizing but sensationalistic CGI-mucked trailer so that it's only the actors (Cusack, Peet, McCarthy) speaking - no effects. It hurts a little inside that the man who wrote The Station Agent and played a pivotal role in Season 5 of The Wire can also do so poorly when in the wrong vehicle. Pun! [DoktorPeace]

Best Week Ever: I also immediately thought of this, my favorite sketch from The Dana Carvey Show (probably many others' too), when the Maine repealing same-sex marriage thing happened last week. Trust me; if you haven't seen "Skinheads From Maine," do yourself a favor and watch this. [Chris]

Munch My Benson: Straight from the horse's mouth - "My friend Josh, he of the Inconsiderate Prick blog and brother of Drew (The Apple Capital Rumble) has started his third blog, entitled Munch My Benson, which is a blog analyzing and discussing...Law and Order: SVU, all day every day. I kid you not. It's pretty amazing." [Qualler]

Flickr: This is pretty self-explanatory. Legs on movie posters. It's many things, but most notably: creepy. So very very creepy. I will never look at another movie poster again without thinking, "what if we got a crotch's point of view?" [DoktorPeace]

YouTube: Out of all the totally hip items Blogulator friend Peter, aka SovietPanda of the now staple Twin Cities dance night Too Much Love, this is probably the best thing he's ever shared. The Top 50 Worst Examples of Voice Acting in Video Games. Check #18 in particular. I would play video games if they were all full of dialogue like this. [Shared Item o' the Week]

What We're Google Readering: Well Excuse Me, Princess!

YouTube: Sean wins this week because of this extraordinary find. Someone has edited all four thousand times the way assy Link says "well excuse me, princess!" in the 1989 Zelda animated series. The best part? There were only 13 episodes. As Sean noted in his brief email to me, "a million laughs." So very true, my friend. So very true. [Sean]

Unreality Magazine: This may be basic freshman college level gender studies crap, but I still find it fascinating. The Disney prince and princess spectrum analyzed! [Chris]

The A Team: We said we'd be tracking our friend Anna's first novel's press coverage up through its January release date, and we're sticking to that promise. The first review of the mystery All Unquiet Things! [Qualler]

Regretsy: I only just recently found out about Etsy, what with Jerksica and I planning out the five million different permutations of what our wedding could be next year, but OHD has uncovered the anti-Etsy. Remarkably, a lot of the DIY stuff here is actually a lot more appealing to me than the stuff on the regular site. [OHD]

Top Cultured: I had no idea what "Balloon Boy Gets the Fresh Prince Treatment" meant when I first read this headline, but it's such an enigmatic lure that I had to find out. And so should you! Even if you're burnt out on the coverage of Falcon's faux-adventure, trust me. It's worth it. [Chris]

Black Bloggah: For those that were unaware, Qualler's on the board of the great local independent arts organization Intermedia Arts. So here's a heads up about a fellow Intermedia Arts'er appearing on the great local radio station KFAI's arts program soon! [Qualler]

Best of Wikipedia: Google Reader's starting to become like Facebook in that I'm now following people I only kinda know, which feels slightly weird, but also fun when people like former volunteer Oren at my college workplace (Radio K) share some gangbusters stuffs from the Interwebs. Here's his latest contribution to my daily intake - a blog that aggregates the most notable entries from everyone's favorite online encyclopedia. This particular one gives you the nice warm fuzzies. What We're Google Readering: The Iceman Sucketh

Mightygodking: Okay, so Dustin, the snarky movie reviewer extraordinaire put together a list of 80s Movies That Have Aged Badly over at the more popular Pajiba, and he got a lot of crap for including on that list The Goonies and Batman. But then the guys over at Mightygodking put together a competing list, which I have to admit, I prefer. It's not even that safe, what with including Platoon (it's taken me years to admit this movie's mediocrity) and Top Gun (though I've never really cared about Iceman). He also makes great use of the term "werebears", as in, I presume, werewolves that are bears. Much more fascinating, in my estimation. [Chris]

Mediabistro: Blogulator friend and reader Anna, in case you didn't already know, is having her first novel published this upcoming January! So now's about the time when we can start tracking bookworm blog posts like these and talk very proudly about someone we know being a real life author! ! The book's a mystery called All Unquiet Things and totally rocks, by the way. The cover is creepy as eff too! Bonus! [Qualler]

YouTube, YouTube, and YouTube: While this "Google Readering" feature has been absent for a while, DoktorPeace has been stockpiling links to curious YouTube clips on our Blogulator email thread. And I finally am taking a second to spend my day off work in my boxers, watching videos where a high school girl idolizes Cardinals outfielder Colby Rasmus by way of singing Sean Kingston's "Fire Burning", a fake advertisement for a fake DVD of a fake claymation movie about anthropomorphic doggy poo, and finally, possibly the best of them all: a hyperactive balding man shows off his Neo Geo collection to the camera while dancing to Eurodisco. Neo Geo, people. [DoktorPeace]

One D at a Time: Jezebel editor Tracie Egan's personal blog used to be mostly about her sexual exploits and which celebrities are secretly gay, but since she's getting married now the content of One D at a Time is tamer, although the tone is pretty much the same. Egan is basically the last blogger on earth I thought would put up a post about how she inexpensively (and maybe a little drunkenly) handmade her kick-ass wedding invitations, that's what this post is. Even I, who am probably never getting married, starred the post in my Reader for further reference. If you're at work, maybe don't go exploring the archives, just a warning. [OHD]

The Critical Condition: So you know how the Oscars are expanding their best picture nominees to a list of ten instead of a less cumbersome five? Well, the movie nerds at The Critical Condition interestingly point out that if this rule was in place in 1989, it might have actually made for a more interesting Oscars broadcast. You know, back when movies like Driving Miss Daisy and My Left Foot won the big awards. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking to ponder the possibility of Oscar noms for Heathers, Do the Right Thing, and Crimes and Misdemeanors. Keep an eye on this blog as they'll be doing the same kind of history revisionism for other Oscar years down the line. [Chris]

Totally the Bomb: Surprise surprise, Scott Baio is a giant douchenozzle. This blogger's friend, who understandingly had a crush on the Charles in Charge star as a girl, thought it would be entertaining to follow him on Twitter. Everything started to turn sour when comments about being rich, comparing Obama to Michael Vick, and golf are exchanged between all three via the most maddening (and for some, maddeningly addictive) Internet craze of 2009. Missed Connections: Blogulator friend and reader P. Arty turned me on to this blog a while ago, and he recently Google Shared an item from it that was particularly creepsauce and wonderful. What makes it so wonderful is that somehow the artist(s?) behind Missed Connections turn a loony "I saw you on the train reading a book and fell in love with you instantly" post from Craigslist or a newspaper into a majestic work of illustration art. It's fascinating, awkward, and beautiful all at once. If you want a unique glimpse of weirdos around town (maybe yours!), scroll through the archives. You could get lost for hours, and who knows, maybe they drew one of us somewhere! [Shared Item o' the Week]

What We're Google Readering: Fictional Bromances

Every Bunny Nestle: I wish I could have a bromance with Mike Kinsella, aka Owen. The video for his new single (off the slowly-growing-on-me New Leaves LP) "Good Friends, Bad Habits" should explain why. Not only are his chiseled yet fragile good looks on display, but there's jokes, gorgeous lullabye melodies, and other Chicago friends, including familiar faces from Joan of Arc, Love of Everything, and Braid. The Bastard Machine: I saw this on another blog and really did not understand how it was calculated. My head hurt for hours. But Qualler says, "AMAXING!!!!! It combines my loves of making pointless lists, watching TV, and power rankings of baseball/football/basketball teams that I enjoy. Great idea." Ah, that's why I don't get it. [Qualler]

Runnin' Scared: Josh Olson, screenwriter of the great A History of Violence, does NOT want to read your script. Though at least he offers a very persuasive reason why in this amusing open letter to aspiring screenwriters. Dude's got issues, but he's right. [OHD]

Aziz is Bored: I also wouldn't mind having a bromance with Mr. Ansari, though it would probably be based less on looking sad and making beautiful music together and more based on jokes about fat kids and "makin' you a smooooothie!" Geekologie: Okay so this fan-made video is kinda lame, but it's also kinda brilliant. Maybe the real-life examples of video games is getting old, but I find this adaptation of the classic Paperboy particularly clever. Especially because of their British accents. [Chris]

I'mma Let You Finish: Yes, it hasn't even been two weeks yet, but it's amazing that this new Internet meme hasn't A) gotten less funny yet and B) still has seemingly infinite possibilities. Here's a good example of one breaking the obvious mold and being a little more creative. [Qualler]

Awful Library Books: And here's your novelty blog of the week. (Wait, practically everything that's mentioned here is a novelty blog. And I still subscribe and check all of them. The Daily Swarm: Thank you, Peter Lansky, aka friend to the Blogulator and crazy famous Minneapolis DJ Sovietpanda. He may spin the hottest dance night in the history of this town (Too Much Love), but he also has a wicked sense of humor. Texts From Last Night: I'm a sucker for gimmick sites that may be forgotten by the masses in a few months. Here's the latest, which is quite self-explanatory, and a link to a particularly hilarious dream description involving canned tuna. Hey, that gets me to thinking, what with Qualler and I tweeting about our pop culture-saturated dreams, maybe someone should start a "Dream Twitter" or blog or something. Kateysagalsopenmind: Now that I'm fully a convert to Sons of Anarchy, I am interested in reading what actress/wife of SoA creator Kurt Sutter has to say about life. If you would have asked me if I thought I'd be into Futurama voice/Married...with Children star Katey Sagal's personal blog thoughts, I'd say "uh...what?" [Qualler]

VH1: "I love where this vampire-obsessed culture is heading next..." says Lady Amy of the new bloodsucker flick called -- err -- Suck starring Henry Rollins, Iggy Pop, and many more currently creepy and formerly relevant rock stars that may indeed already be creatures of the night. [Lady Amy]

Daily Premise: Blogulator tech helper Dave had a guest stint writing updates for these folks, who churn out some of the most hilarious and succinct loglines for hypothetical movies, books, TV shows, or just life scenarios. Of course the one referencing Jurassic Park caught our eye. [Chris]

The Wrap: It's good to know Upright Citizen Brigade is still available in some form for those of us who don't live on the coasts. Here's a younger group of the troupe hypothesizing what it'd be like if The CW brought back Seinfeld like they brought back 90210 and are about to bring back Melrose Place. Minneapolis Fucking Rocks: This week we have Blogulator friend and reader Vogues pointing us to the venerable local music bloggers at MFR, who excitedly announced Minneapolis pop duo Now Now Every Children's invitation to open for Paramore on their upcoming tour! ShitMyDadSays: I'm not a big fan of a lot of the concept Twitters out there, but this one, as pointed out by Blogulator friend and cohort Katie, is golden. Its title is self-explanatory, but the 73-year-old in question is astounding in his nuggets of wisdom regarding Kate Beckinsale, proprietary toilets, and whether dogs need rubix cubes because they're bored. Televisionary: Ah-ha! This new show's on Showtime, so you can't make fun of Qualler for getting excited about yet another HBO show, DoktorPeace. Laura Linney in a dramedy about getting diagnosed with cancer? Finally, someone's putting the funny back into the word "malignant"! Seriously though, I'll watch anything with high production values and actors that used to be in movies until they finally gave up on winning an Oscar. [Qualler]

Unlikely Words: 2 Girls 1 Cup is so 2007 (or whatever year that was, it mighta been last week, eff if I know), but because ?uestlove is one of the most astoundingly hilarious people in the world (his laugh/scream helps prove this) and they're the only reason anyone stays up for Jimmy Fallon, I present to you The Roots watching the classic Internet porn-meme. We Got Served: Here's a Minneapolis/St. Paul food blog that's "determined to try all the great food" in the metropolitan area. You know what the best part about food blogs, which I think people who are obsessed with food but never realized it until they started drooling over all the scrumptious pictures of appetizing dishes that I might want to have more than an I-eat-you relationship with on food blogs just discovered in the past 1-2 years is? I forget my question already, but I think I answered it somewhere in there. [Qualler]

Switchblade Comb: Getting higher and higher on my top songs of the year list as the months go flying by is "We Do What We Want To" by O+S, which features former members of Azure Ray (yay!) and Remy Zero (boo!). Luckily, the yay outweighs the boo by approximately a million percent. Here's the video for that very single, full of lush sadcore pop melodies and intricate production to the nth degree. [Chris]

Cute Overload: And here's your obligatory dose of cute for the week - a shot of a turtle eating mashed potatoes, mid-chomp. As directly quoted from Qualler's Google Reader Shared Items note, "Hahahahahahahaha that turtle LOVES mashed potatoes." Precisely, Qualler. Precisely. [Qualler]

Shared Item of the Week: Blogulator friend and go-to tech geek Joe of iJFP shared an item from (surprise, surprise) TechCrunch about California Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger meeting with the head dweebs at Twitter (just around the corner from where Joe lives in San Francisco, incidentally) to discuss how to use the time-waster/shameless-self-promotion tool to, I'm not kidding, help citizens help govern the state. And what a shock, the number one suggestion from idiots on the Internet is to legalize marijuana! Yes, that is definitely what's hurting California the most right now.

What We're Google Readering: Puppies and Dolphins and Footballs, Oh My

Chris and DoktorPeace are off cavorting as bachelors in Portland, OR, with friend of the Blogulator and soon-to-be-non-bachelor Dave, so I am taking the reigns of the Google Readering feature this here week. It's been a fairly slow week in pop culture this week, aside from the premiere of Mad Men and oh, a new Radiohead song(*), but other than that, not too much. Hey, actually, that's a pretty good pop culture week. But, what are you more interested in hearing about on a Friday - prestegious television shows and musical acts, or dogs who make friends with dolphins? That's what I thought. Enjoy.

(*)I'm actually digging this song...quite a bit...a true extension of their Kid A stuff, way moreso than Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows...you'll hear more about Kid A as it gets closer to the end of the decade, but I digress...

Minnesota Public Radio: So a REAL LIFE TWISTER WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF BILL PAXTON/HELEN HUNT/PRE-OSCAR PHILLY SEYMOUR HOFFMAN ACTUALLY touched down in Minneapolis on Wednesday. And, the REAL LIFE TWISTER smashed up one of our fave record stores in town, the Electric Fetus, along with the damaging of a church. Friend of the Blogulator @Kylelonious tweeted the following: "The only things damaged in Mpls tornado is a church and store called the eletric fetus? Clearly God has taken a stand on the abortion issue." Touche, Kylelonious -- but is it a pro-life or pro-choice stance? We may never know. [Lady Amy]

/Film: In other Minneapolis-related news, a new bar recently opened up, I mean, came back from the dead. It's a zombie bar in NE Mpls, from the ashes of an old bar. It's got Shawn of the Dead-like stuff in it. I want to go to there. Who's with me? [Qualler]

Perfect Duluth Day: Shared by Blogulator friend Lane. Hey, I don't really care which way you lean in the whole psycho public health care debate, but if you're gonna be angry about it, at least don't include an embarrassing misspelled word. I do want to know what the pubic option entails, though...I'm intrigued. [Lane]

Webster Is My Bitch: In irrelevent actor news, Jerry O'Connell has decided to give up his acting career and become a 1L. Wait, this guy stole Rebecca Romaijn from the almighty Stamos?! What is wrong with this world?!? [Chris]

Cute Overload: Okay, I share waaaaay too much stuff from this site. But COME ON. A dog and a dolphin are friends!!!!!!!! Does it get more adorable than that? The only thing more adorable would be a baby, dressed as a puppy, in a picture in a frame of a teddy bear. That would be pretty cute. [Qualler]

YouTube: I checked my email really early in the morning and clicked on this link shared by the good Doktor. I almost immediately barfed. It's not that it's really disgusting, but on the other hand, the first thing you see in the morning should not generally be peanut butter man. Click if you are ready to handle something totally wacky. Totally SFW, if safe means you're OK with a David Lynch-like character eating away in your brain for the rest of your life. [DoktorPeace]

MinnPost: This has little to no pop cultural relevency (except for when he had a cameo in There's Something About Mary!) but a former enemy of the Minnesota Vikings, you may have heard, has recently joined the team, causing those good-natured enemies of mine who are Packer fans to generally be really sad and/or angry about it. Brett Favre is a Minnesota Viking. I'm pretty sure I wrote poems that involved not liking Brett Favre in the 7th grade, and now here I am talking about how he is the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, my fave football team ever. On a side note, I just remembered that really annoying move that Brett always used on the Vikings, where he would do the fake play action and then pretend he was throwing the ball and IT WAS ALWAYS SO OBVIOUS THAT HE DIDN'T HAVE THE BALL BUT THE VIKINGS DEFENSE ALWAYS FELL FOR IT AND AND AND alskjdfladskjfLKEFJ. Chris, along with Blogulator friend Joe, started the show way back in 2004 and grew it to become the country's premiere epic instrumental rock show. Earlier this week, Chris hosted his final show, before handing the reins over to the next generation of epic instrumental rock enthusiests, and this week's show featured Chris' 20 best instrumental songs of his life. It's always been a radio show worth checking out, and that doesn't stop with Chris' departure, but we will miss his comforting presence every week while listening to pretentious, lovable, epic instrumental rock every week Wednesdays from 7-9 pm on Radio K. Wednesday nights during tax busy season will not be the same without you, Chris! [Qualler]

AV Club: In "the creepiest news ever" department, for those of you keeping tabs on which celebrities are the ones you probably want to stay away from the most, Ryan O'Neal not only accidentally hit on his daughter Tatum (also famous, very recognizable) at his fiancee Farah Fawcett's wedding funeral, but he then reported that news to the press. Pajiba: Usually movie trade news is boring or soul-crushing, but Dustin from Pajiba makes an interesting item (David Mamet writing/directing an Anne Frank film) even more wonderful by describing how Frank will probably triple-deceive the Nazis, starting with a enigmatically witty comment at a card game. Girl Friday: Qualler, if I could bring back a donut from Voodoo Doughnut in Portland for you when I go there next weekend, I totally would. Alexis from Girl Friday is totally right, though - Minneapolis, step up your donut game! [Qualler]

Shared Item of the Week: Friend and past guest blogger Anita shared a particularly bizarre news item this week via Consumerist, in which they cover the controversy behind a doll that teaches little girls how to breastfeed. To which she says, "More importantly, what the eff are we offering to our girls as play items? I never see boy housekeeping toys and the like." Touche.

Just As I Suspected: Blogulator friend and reader Katie re-blogs a terrifying discovery of the actors who played the two Petes from the illustrious childhood Nickelodeon favorite The Adventures of Pete & Pete. Turns out they're grown up selves are even more awkward (mostly just creepy) than their teenage selves. [Chris]
