Live from New York - it's Amy's blog post!

I'm going to start this post off in good slacker fashion - with an appology. This week I am blogging live from The Big Apple where I'll be spending the next six days at the CMJ festival so 1) I'm not exactly up on this week's latest pop culture happenings and 2) this will be another very short post, mostly about celebrity gossip.

With that out of the way, I've got to say that being a former blog-hater I really wasn't sure how I'd feel about blogging last week. I was very nervous when I sat down to write, but after hitting that "publish post" button I felt totally liberated. I mean, it was like finishing a mid-term paper or cooking naked. It was like giving to public radio for the first time - it juuuuust felt sooooo goooood!

In this week's edition, I'd like to mimic a sketch that used to be part of The Animaniacs, called Good Idea, Bad Idea.

Good Idea:

Going to CMJ Music Marathon and seeing bands such as:

Mates of State
The Most Serene Republic
Celebration
Simian Mobile Disco
Deerhunter
The National
Pela
+over 1000 other bands.

Bad Idea(s):

1) Auditioning to be a dancer on the new Britney Spears video and tour. YOU could be the next Kevin Federline, and here are some photos to remind you that you DON'T want to be the next Kevin Federline.

2) Seeking parenting advice from Michael Jackson.

That's all I've got for you this week. Follow this advice and don't forget to eat your vegetables!

Yeah, well, I'm seeing 1,000,000 bands right now, so that's actually a little bit better, and I actually saw 1,000,000,000 bands last night, and they were all pretty good but not as good as my band. And giving to NPR makes me feel icky inside!

good idea: leaving it to amy to cover the celebrity gossip.

bad idea: expecting people in hollywood to have heard about the following news stories...

    1) the 35w bridge collapse
    2) the senator craig scandal
    3) nintendo wii controllers breaking people's televisions

    "really, that happened?"

I gave a Dodge Neon to NPR. It was turquoise!

It's not what or how much you gave, it's that you gave at all.
