Oh, for the love of blog!

Apparently my neighbor finally figured out that I was stealing his/her internet and cut me off - just in time for my blog post. After wandering the streets looking for a place with wireless internet that is open at 11:30 p.m. on a Monday night, I finally broke down and stepped foot in the coffee shop that I've been boycotting since the owner kicked out my group of seven people because one person didn't buy anything (all water under the bridge when you're desperate, I suppose).

So why, then, am I now posting at 11 a.m. on Tuesday? Let me detail my experience at said coffee shop in dialog form. This is what actually happened:

[girl (me) rushes into coffee shop, stopping to notice the 1 a.m. closing time]

Girl: Do you have wireless?
Barista: Yes.

--

Now here's how the conversation should have gone:

Girl: Do you have wireless?
Barista: Yes...but we shut it off at the arbitrary and nonsensical time of 12:30, even though we don't close until 1. And by the way, we won't give you any kind of warning so here's hoping you've saved your work before we yank the plug.

That will teach me to abandon my principles I guess! I resolve never to break that boycott again.

So I sat there drinking mediocre coffee very slowly so they didn't boot me out before I finished my post (which didn't matter anyway) and reminiscing about watching Men of Honor Sunday night on TV because the World Series and The Bourne Supremacy clogged up the other channels.

I'm not here to start a fight about whether the World Series is fun to watch (answer: no), nor am I here to blog about a movie that came out seven years ago. What I watched after M.O.H. on The Insider is what I really want to talk about.

Perhaps I was a little emotional after Cuba Gooding Jr. took that dramatic 12th step in the diving suit, proving that an amputee CAN be a Master Diver, but watching The Insider made me kind of angry.

Story #1: Kirstie Alley's weight loss.

Is she keeping the weight off? Looks like she is; thank God she's not still fat.

Story #2: Kelly LeBrock - the used-to be hot supermodel who is now a contestant on Celebrity Fit Club. Why did she let herself go? For comparison:

Story #3: Anorexic Model, Isabelle Caro speaks out.

How did this model become anorexic? (Possible answer: refer to stories 1 and 2) Maybe it's just me, but perhaps this was not the best choice of stories and story order. And perhaps The Insider isn't the best venue for dealing with the serious issue of anorexia - or at the very least not in the same issue as the "fat model resolves to lose weight" story.

holy crap that's some blogulator dedication!!!

    bravo lady amy, bravo!!!

while we probably shouldn't name names of coffee shops we all hate, let's just say that your incident is GROUNDS for never setting foot in that UNCOMMONly awful coffeehouse every again!
