All The Gabriel Byrne You Can Handle

Hey kids! There's this HOT HOT new actor named Gabriel Byrne!!! First, he made his waves on this movie that I totally watched on Easter Sunday called Little Women in which he said, "I have nothing to offer, my hands are empty, " and Jo, portrayed by Winona Ryder totally filled his hands with her hands and said "Not anymore!" Then he was in The Usual Suspects, which I think was good but I didn't watch the time I rented it because I had just watched Annie Hall and no movie could compare to it, ever (kind of like the time I had watched The Devil's Advocate and the next week watched Gattaca and was totally disappointed that it wasn't as awesome as The Devil's Advocate, but I digress.) And NOW! Gabriel Byrne is the star of the soon-to-wrap-up HBO five-nights-a-week drama series In Treatment. Did I mention that I have, like, a total non-sexual man crush on Gabriel Byrne's character, Dr. Paul Weston, and the rest of the blogosphere does, too, all over?

For SRRRRRRRRS, though, In Treatment and all of HBO is under review these days. Although critical response seems to favor In Treatment quite a bit these days, it seems as if the ratings for shows on HBO are to be "in treatment" themselves. (HA HA HA!) This week, former director of programming Carolynn Strauss "stepped down" in her role. What does that mean to us? Well, duh, hire me to pick new HBO shows!

For srrs, though. Please, hire me. Please.

    I've never thought such a benign actor could be getting so much attention on The Blogulator...ohhhh yeah that's right, I'm startin' something.

    Benign actor? With all due respect, Chris, you've never even seen the show. I never was swayed one way or another by his acting until I watched this series, and he's totally great in an understated way.

    Don't put words in the mouths of all blogulator staff, Mark! Chris and I don't think Gabriel Byrne is attractive at all (and yes, I realize the hypocracy of this comment).

    All right, Gabriel Byrne always was and still is awesome. He was fucking awesome in Miller's Crossing. He was fucking awesome in The Usual Suspects. Those two alone give him plenty of cred in my book. Also, he was very solid in Dead Man and Cool World.

    As for In Treatment, I'm with Mark.
