Blogulator Radio Episode #21: I Want My MTV (Not to Suck)

Although Qualler and Brigitte managed to avoid the entirety of the MTV Video Music Awards last night, they have not avoided the inevitable onslaught of the pop culture zeitgeists that have existed on the Music Televisions. And, amazingly, they have found that some of their new shows are…sort…of…genuinely good? At least, there is one genuinely good new scripted show on the network that seems to be geared toward kids who just seem to keep getting younger. Qualler and Brigitte start by discussing that decent new show Awkward, then discuss the merits of watching Teen Mom without feeling like too much of a terrible person if the storyline involving the parents who gave their child up for adoption feels really, really boring. And they briefly touch on Jersey Shore, which isn’t so good, and the return of Beavis and Butt-Head, which is very good. All things considered, maybe it’s not about generational gaps at all – it’s about shows not sucking?
